Website Overhaul

Hey everyone,
Steve and I were talking and decided we didn’t like where our website was at. So over the next couple days we’ll be working on a new look for J Tech! A new layout, logo, pretty much a new everything. We’re very excited for this change and hopefully you will be too. I have rough plans to use this blog weekly to share company updates, Tutorials, and things I find of interest and think you might as well.
To jump start things I find interesting.

Here is a cute picture of a cat:

My regards,

Christian Hardin

Google’s Chromebooks

Google is coming out with their own laptop known as Chromebook.  Here at J Tech we are big supporter’s of Google and Chrome.
So we are of course very excited!!!

A Chromebook is a laptop that runs Google Chrome Operating System, it is built and optimized for the web.  We spend most of our computing time on the web, so Google took that and used it to help us make sure it is faster and simpler.
The Chromebook is instant web. It boots in 8 seconds and resumes instantly. It’s easy to get connected anytime and anywhere with built in Wi-Fi and 3G. And the web apps are endless.

We’re still working on utilizing our big space, but you are more than welcome to come on by.Our new address is 513 Fleming St. Suite 10.  As much as we loved our old space it was time for something bigger. There is much more room for all our customers, parts, shelves, and desks. We’re very excited and grateful.

Google Apps Hidden Feature

We are huge Google Apps users here at J Tech and have helped many companies switch to the cloud with their services. Thought that I would post a little tidbit that I found today that Google hasn’t ever advertised but that works fantastic. It is a full screen Google Tasks Interface. Check it out…

Google Places Notice: Google Tags to be retired on 4/29

What is all this noise about. I cannot believe it…. it seemed to be doing well and has worked for a number of local businesses. I wonder if they are doing this to really push Google Boost. It seems like such short notice though. To me it seems very un-Google like to remove a entire product that has paying customers in just two weeks. I have been using Adwords in conjunction with Boost and it seems to be doing really well.  I just hope they grow Boost quickly though as it definitely has some growing up to do.

Samsung Galaxy Tab

Samsung has created a device to go up against the Ipad. And my does it compare. The Samsung Galaxy Tab is now supported by Sprint and Verizon.

The Tab uses a 7-inch capacitive touch screen with a 1,024×600 Wide Super VGA (WSVGA) resolution. It ships with Android 2.2 (Froyo), the complete Google apps Market, Flash 10.1, 16GB or 32GB of memory, GPS, and integrated sensors, such as a gyroscope, accelerometer, light sensor, and geomagnetic sensor. It has a 3 Mega pixel camera with flash and video capability, and a video chat compatible camera on front of the tab that is 1.3 mega pixels.

Over all it’s a great convenient device and alternative to the Ipad. Here at J Tech we’re big fans of it. With Wi-fi, blue tooth wireless technology and HD playback how could you not be??
But Samsung doesn’t stop here. They just announced an upgrade of the Galaxy Tab. A Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be coming out soon. With a new 10.1″ Screen, 1GHz Duel Core Processor, HD recording and full HD playback and a 8 Mega pixel rear camera they sure are aiming to satisfy.
As you know we are big fans of Android here at J Tech and if you are looking for an alternative to the Ipad well this is it!! We definitely recommend it!!!

Grooveshark

Grooveshark is an online music search engine, music streaming service and music recommendation web software application. It allows users to search for, stream and upload music for free. Grooveshark is something we would recommend to anyone who is looking for an alternative to Pandora. Like Pandora you can listen to the radio and use the recommendation system to define whether a recommendation was good or not by click the “happyface” or “sadpanda” icon. Unlike Pandora you can search for any song you like and it can be played immediately or added to a playlist. You can also follow other users and see what they’ve been listening to. For us here at J Tech it’s our number one way to listen to music. They also have an Android app so now you can have Grooveshark on the go.
Time magazine noted Grooveshark as one of the 50 best websites of 2010.
